Víctor Hugo Víquez Chaverri

Víctor Hugo Víquez Chaverri is a former Costa Rican legislator from the National Liberation Party (PLN) who was in the news for being acquitted of charges related to influence peddling after an eight-year legal battle. Initially convicted in March 2023 and sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for attempting to sway a public official on behalf of a cement importer, his conviction was overturned by a higher court in June 2024. This case gained public attention during the 2018 electoral campaign, leading to his withdrawal from the race for re-election.
