Victor Makere has been appointed as Visa's new country manager for Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda, effective May 12, 2025. With extensive experience in digital financial services and business development, he will lead Visa's efforts to enhance financial inclusion and expand digital commerce in these East African markets. Previously, he served as head of Merchant Payments at Airtel Money Tanzania and held senior roles at CRDB Bank and Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania, where he focused on digital banking transformations and mobile payments.
