Viktor Murikhanov

Viktor Murikhanov is a 41-year-old anti-war activist from Irkutsk, Russia, who has been vocal in his support for opposition leader Alexey Navalny and the Free Buryatia movement. After facing police scrutiny for his activism, he sought asylum in the U.S. in 2022. However, his asylum application was recently denied, putting him at risk of deportation back to Russia, where he fears for his safety. Murikhanov is currently appealing the decision and is hopeful that Canada will provide refuge for him and his family amidst the ongoing mass deportations of Russian dissidents from the U.S.
