Viktoriya Rossina
Viktoriya Rossina was a courageous Ukrainian journalist who dedicated her life to uncovering the truth about the human rights abuses occurring in Russian-occupied territories during the ongoing conflict. Born in 1996, she became known for her fearless efforts to document the systemic torture and disappearance of civilians by Russian forces. In August 2023, while investigating secret detention centers near the Zaporizhia nuclear plant, she was captured and subsequently subjected to brutal treatment in various detention centers. Despite international efforts to secure her release, she tragically died in Russian custody in September 2024, with her body showing clear signs of torture. Rossina's legacy as a symbol of journalistic bravery continues through ongoing investigations into war crimes and the work of organizations like Forbidden Stories, which aims to complete her mission of giving a voice to the voiceless.
