Vilks

Vilks served as the director of the National Library of Latvia for an impressive tenure that began in 1989 and continued until 2024, following a long career starting as a senior librarian in 1978. He was instrumental in advancing library services in the region and held leadership roles in various library associations, including the 'Bibliotheca Baltica'. His contributions to literature and library science were recognized with prestigious awards such as the Order of the Three Stars and the 'Golden Apple' award for lifetime achievement.
