Violet Gibson was an Irish woman born in 1876 into a wealthy family with ties to the English aristocracy. She became known for her assassination attempt on Italian Prime Minister Benito Mussolini in 1926, motivated by her opposition to his fascist regime. Following her unsuccessful attempt, she was arrested and subsequently declared mentally unstable, leading to her deportation to Britain where she was confined to a psychiatric asylum until her death in 1956.
