Virgil Traian Madgearu
Virgil Traian Madgearu (1887-1940) was a prominent Romanian economist, sociologist, and politician, known for his significant contributions to economic theory and public policy. He served as a member of the National Peasant Party (PNȚ) and held several ministerial positions, including Minister of Finance and Minister of Industry and Commerce. Madgearu was also instrumental in founding the Institute for the Study of Economic Conjuncture, which worked to analyze Romania's economic conditions during a tumultuous period. Tragically, his life was cut short when he was assassinated by Legionnaires in 1940.
