Virginia Poe

Virginia Poe, born Virginia Clemm, was the cousin and wife of the famed writer Edgar Allan Poe. The couple married when she was just 13 years old and Poe was 27, a relationship that, despite modern scrutiny, was marked by deep affection. Virginia's untimely death from tuberculosis in 1847 profoundly affected Poe, plunging him into despair and exacerbating his struggles with alcoholism.
