Vladimir Krasnoselski

Vladimir Krasnoselski is the leader of the breakaway region of Transnistria, a self-proclaimed republic in Moldova that declared independence in 1990 but is not recognized by any UN member states. He has been in power since 2016 and is known for his pro-Russian stance, advocating for closer ties with Russia amidst ongoing tensions with Moldova. Recently, he was in the news for declaring a state of emergency in the economy due to a severe energy crisis, which Vicepremierul Valeriu Chiveri attributed to unsustainable energy practices in the region.
