Volker Roth

Volker Roth was a prominent German football referee who officiated 128 Bundesliga matches during his career. He is best known for his role as a FIFA referee at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Roth also officiated significant matches such as the DFB-Pokal final in 1984 and the opening match of the UEFA Euro 1984. From 1995 to 2010, he served as the chairman of the DFB Referees Committee and was a member of the UEFA Referees Committee, contributing greatly to the development of officiating in Germany and internationally. His passing has been deeply mourned by the German football community.
