Vuca Pinheiro

Vuca Pinheiro is a renowned Cape Verdean musician and composer, hailing from Vila Nova Sintra on the island of Brava. Known for his dedication to preserving traditional Cape Verdean music, particularly the morna genre, he has sought to blend these cultural roots with contemporary sounds. His musical journey began with a harmonica and a guitar gifted by his father, and he honed his skills through influences from local mentors, notably Djick Oliveira. After studying in Brazil, he released his first album, 'Força di Cretcheu,' in 1985, which played a significant role in reviving the morna genre in the United States. His recent album, 'Os Meus Parceiros,' continues to celebrate the rich musical heritage of Cape Verde.
