Walter Mello de Vargas

Walter Mello de Vargas is the president of the Associação Brasileira das Forças Internacionais de Paz (ABFIP), an organization that represents Brazilians who have served in United Nations peacekeeping missions. He was recently in the news for presiding over a ceremony in which the controversial plastic surgeon Milton Seigi Hayashi was awarded the Medalha Cinquentenário das Forças de Paz do Brasil, leading to scrutiny over the decision in light of Hayashi's criminal conviction.
