Wayne Modest

Wayne Modest is the content director of the Wereldmuseum in the Netherlands and a professor of Material Culture and Critical Heritage Studies at VU University Amsterdam. He advocates for museums to engage with communities to collaboratively shape the narratives surrounding heritage and history, particularly in post-colonial contexts. Recently, he emphasized the importance of inclusive storytelling during his lectures in Paramaribo, Suriname, highlighting the need for museums to reflect local histories and perspectives.
