Wesley So is a Filipino-American chess grandmaster known for his strategic prowess and exceptional skill. Born on October 9, 1992, in Bacoor, Philippines, he became a chess prodigy at a young age, winning the Philippine National Chess Championship at just 14. So moved to the United States in 2014 and has since represented the country in various international competitions. He gained prominence after winning the prestigious 2019 World Chess Championship in Chess960, also known as Fischer Random Chess. His style is characterized by deep calculation and a solid understanding of positional play, making him one of the top players in the world.
