Wilhelmina Cooper, born in 1939 in the Netherlands as Wilhelmina Bemenbur, rose to fame as a pioneering fashion model and agency owner. After emigrating to the United States, she became a beauty icon, gracing the covers of numerous prestigious magazines. Despite her professional success, she endured a tumultuous marriage to television producer Bruce Cooper, which was marked by abuse and control. Following their painful divorce, she transformed her modeling agency into a symbol of independence, discovering and promoting new talents, including the legendary Iman and Gia Carangi. Cooper's struggles with health issues and eating disorders remained largely hidden from the public, and she tragically passed away from lung cancer at the age of 40 in 1980.
