Willem I
Willem I was the first king of the Netherlands, reigning from 1815 until his abdication in 1840. He played a significant role in the establishment of a constitutional monarchy following the defeat of Napoleon, which led to the formation of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. While he was not directly involved in the independence movement, his lineage and position allowed him to influence the political landscape of the time. His legacy includes the monument Plein 1813 in The Hague, which commemorates the Netherlands' liberation from French rule.
