Winfried Schaefer is a seasoned German football coach and the current Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). At 75 years old, he has a wealth of experience in international football, having previously managed the Cameroon national team to an Africa Cup of Nations title in 2002 and modernizing Jamaican football during his tenure there. Schaefer accepted his role in Ghana during a turbulent period for the national team, which faced challenges such as failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations and struggling in World Cup qualifiers. His focus is on fostering team cohesion, developing sustainable football projects, and unifying Ghana's fragmented football ecosystem to restore the Black Stars to their former glory.
