Witold Klemens Wankowicz

Witold Klemens Wankowicz was a Polish diplomat and member of the noble Wankowicz family, born in 1888 in Warsaw. He gained a prestigious education at Cambridge University and went on to serve as the consul of the Polish embassy in Washington, D.C. His historical significance has recently been highlighted due to his connection to the sale of Albrecht Dürer's painting 'Portrait of a Venetian Woman', which he sold to the Vienna Museum of Art, revealing the complex provenance of the artwork.
