Xiao Hua was a prominent Chinese general and poet, born in 1916 in Jiangxi Province. As a key participant in the Long March, he later authored the celebrated poem cycle 'Long March Song,' a lyrical reflection of the arduous journey of the Red Army and its revolutionary spirit. In 1955, he became the youngest general in the People's Republic of China.
