Yangana Mohammed

Yangana Mohammed is a 32-year-old mother of seven who fled jihadist violence in her hometown of Gom, Nigeria, five years ago. Currently residing in a camp for the displaced in Maiduguri, she has become an advocate for maternal health services, expressing gratitude for the free antenatal care and reproductive health education provided at a UN-run clinic. Mohammed, who supports her family by knitting bama caps, actively engages in sharing knowledge about personal hygiene and puberty with her children, particularly her 16-year-old daughter.
