Yao Xinshen, a 30-year-old former police inspector, was recently in the news after being found guilty of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm. In June of the previous year, while driving with a learner's permit, he ran a red light and collided with a taxi, which subsequently struck a female pedestrian, resulting in her suffering an open fracture of the right leg. Following the court's ruling, he was sentenced to 240 hours of community service and received a two-year suspension of his driving license.
