Ye Lwin

Dr. Ye Lwin is a prominent ophthalmologist and the former mayor of Mandalay, Myanmar. He gained recognition for his efforts to modernize the city through the development of smart city initiatives after the National League for Democracy took power in 2016. Under his leadership, Mandalay implemented various technological advancements in urban management, enhancing public services including traffic management and waste disposal. However, his tenure has been challenged by the political turmoil following the military coup in 2021 and the devastating earthquake that struck the region in March 2025.
