Yella Lepman

Yella Lepman was a prominent German writer and journalist, best known for founding the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). She established the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1956, which is often regarded as the 'Nobel Prize' for children's literature. Lepman's vision was to use literature to bring joy and hope to children, particularly those who lived through the turmoil of war.
