Yelmita Juwarnis

Yelmita Juwarnis is the head of the Koto Alam Health Center in Kabupaten Agam, Indonesia. In response to the severe health issues arising from the recent hydrometeorological disaster in West Sumatra, she has been actively involved in providing medical care to disaster-affected populations. Yelmita has highlighted the prevalence of respiratory infections and diarrhea among the displaced individuals, exacerbated by psychological trauma that discourages them from seeking medical help. To address these challenges, she has implemented a proactive strategy, where health workers visit shelters and homes to provide necessary healthcare services to vulnerable groups, including the elderly and pregnant women.
