Yosef Chairul

Yosef Chairul is the Head of Islamic Affairs at the West Sumatra Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kanwil Kemenag Sumbar). He was in the news for announcing that the crescent moon (hilal), which signals the beginning of Ramadan, was not visible during the observation at Masjid Al Hakim in Padang, due to its position being below the horizon and overcast weather conditions on February 17, 2026.
