Younchang Ko

Younchang Ko was a fisherman who tragically drowned at Omaha Beach in Auckland while fishing alone. On the day of his death, he spent several hours standing in knee-deep water, but as the tide rose and the current became stronger, he was unable to swim to safety. Witnesses attempted to help him, but the conditions were too perilous. Ko was later found by lifeguards, and a coroner's report highlighted the importance of wearing life jackets and fishing with a partner to prevent such tragic incidents.
