Yuri Khashevatsky

Yuri Khashevatsky, born on October 18, 1947, in Odessa, was a notable Belarusian filmmaker and political activist. He made significant contributions to cinema, directing over thirty documentary and feature films, including the acclaimed 'Ordinary President,' which focused on the early presidency of Alexander Lukashenko. Khashevatsky's work earned him international recognition, including awards from the Berlin Film Festival and Human Rights Watch. In addition to his cinematic achievements, he was a founding member of the Minsk Jewish Cultural Association and was active in opposition politics against the Lukashenko regime.
