Zainab Jama

Zainab Jama is a Somali beauty queen and activist, currently representing Somalia in the Miss World competition. At the age of 23, she gained international attention for her emotional presentation during the Head-to-Head Challenge, where she bravely shared her personal experience as a victim of female genital mutilation (FGM). Jama's story highlights the pain and suffering endured by countless women in Somalia due to this traditional practice, which affects approximately 98% of women in the country. Her advocacy work through the Female Initiative Foundation aims to empower women and raise awareness against FGM, promoting a future where cultural traditions do not harm the physical and mental well-being of young girls. Alongside her advocacy, Jama is passionate about cultural exchange and has a background in aviation and airport management.
