Zia Mohyeddin was a celebrated Pakistani actor, director, and broadcaster, known for his compelling performances in both theatre and television. Born on June 20, 1931, in Faisalabad, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and gained international recognition for his role in 'Lawrence of Arabia.' A pioneer in Pakistani television, he hosted the iconic 'Zia Mohyeddin Show' and played a crucial role in establishing the National Academy of Performing Arts in Karachi. His contributions to the arts earned him numerous accolades, including the Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Hilal-i-Imtiaz. Mohyeddin's rich voice and dramatic reading of literature left an indelible mark on Urdu poetry and prose, making him one of the most revered figures in Pakistani cultural history. He passed away in February 2023, leaving behind a legacy of artistic excellence.
