Zirlândia

Zirlândia is a resident of Serrinha dos Pintos, Brazil, who suffered from a debilitating condition as a child, characterized by involuntary eye movements and a gradual loss of strength in her limbs, ultimately requiring her to use a wheelchair. Her case was instrumental in the research led by geneticist Silvana Santos, which led to the identification of Spoan syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting the local population.
