
Ablay Myrzakhmetov
Ablay Myrzakhmetov is a former Kazakhstani politician and businessman, who served as the head of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs 'Atameken' from 2013 until 2022. He has a history of involvement in government, having held the position of Minister of Transport and Communications in 2002 before being dismissed due to corruption allegations. In May 2024, he was convicted of large-scale fraud and sentenced to five years in prison. Currently serving his sentence in Pavlodar, he has recently requested early conditional release, drawing attention to his efforts to create job opportunities for fellow inmates through a sewing workshop he initiated within the correctional facility.
