Albert Pike
Albert Pike was a Confederate general during the American Civil War, known for his role in the Confederate Army and his later career as a prominent lawyer and poet. In addition to his military service, he was an associate justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and a significant figure in the Freemasonry movement, contributing to the development of Masonic philosophy. A statue of Pike, erected in 1901, was toppled during protests against racial injustice in June 2020, and the National Park Service recently announced its plans to restore the statue, citing historical preservation and federal responsibilities.
