Alejandro Andrés Carranza Medina, also known as 'Coroncoro', was a Colombian fisherman from Santa Marta who gained notoriety after he was killed in a U.S. airstrike while at sea. His family described him as a hardworking individual who went fishing every morning. However, he had a controversial past, having been involved in a major scandal in 2015 where he was implicated in the theft of 264 firearms from the Metropolitan Police of Santa Marta. His death sparked a diplomatic incident between Colombia and the United States, as President Gustavo Petro defended him, insisting he was a victim of an unjust military action.
