Alejandro Labaka Ugarte (1920-1987), a Spanish missionary, dedicated his life to serving indigenous peoples in the Amazon alongside his colleague, Inés Arango Velásquez. His life of service and sacrifice has recently been acknowledged by Pope León XIV, who has taken steps toward his beatification.
