
Inés Arango Velásquez
Inés Arango Velásquez (1937-1987) was a Colombian missionary known for her selfless dedication to indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Born in Medellín, she joined the Congregation of the Capuchin Tertiaries of the Sacred Family at the age of 17. She moved to Ecuador in 1977, where she worked closely with the Huaorani people, fostering understanding and communication between cultures. Tragically, she was murdered by the Tagaeri tribe in 1987 while on a mission. Her life of service and sacrifice has led to her recent recognition by Pope León XIV, who has initiated the process for her beatification.
