Alim Aliev is a journalist and political activist known for his advocacy on behalf of the Crimean Tatars, an indigenous people of Crimea. Born in Uzbekistan after his family was deported from Crimea in 1944, he returned to Crimea with his family after the Soviet Union's collapse. Aliev has been vocal about the ongoing human rights violations in Crimea under Russian occupation and co-founded the NGO SOS Crimea to raise awareness and preserve Tatar culture.
