Amarante Baret

Amarante Baret is a Dominican politician and former minister who was expelled from the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) for actions deemed detrimental to the party's unity. He is currently the president of a new political party called Avancemos, which is awaiting recognition by the Central Electoral Board. Baret has been vocal about the need for opposition parties, including the PLD and Fuerza del Pueblo, to unite against the ruling Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) in the upcoming 2028 elections.
