André Sérot
André Sérot was a French military officer who served as a colonel during the tumultuous period surrounding the establishment of the State of Israel. He was accompanying Count Folke Bernadotte as part of the United Nations mediation team when both were attacked by members of the Lehi group on September 17, 1948. Sérot was fatally wounded in the assault, highlighting the violent opposition to peace efforts during the early years of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
