Andrey Portnov, a former advisor to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was known for his role in the country's political landscape from 2011 to 2014. He was born in 1973 in Luhansk and graduated from the East Ukrainian National University. Portnov served as the first deputy head of the Presidential Administration and was involved in various legal and political activities, including controversial legal actions against former President Petro Poroshenko. He faced criminal charges in Ukraine and was placed on a wanted list in 2015 but later returned to Ukraine in 2019. His life took a tragic turn when he was shot dead near a school in Spain, where he had taken his children.
