
Arnold Lewis Raphel
Arnold Lewis Raphel was the United States Ambassador to Pakistan during the late 1980s. He was involved in U.S.-Pakistan relations during a critical time in both countries' histories. Raphel was also a victim of the 1988 plane crash that killed President Zia and other military leaders, raising concerns about the safety and political climate in Pakistan at the time.
