Arya Tara Shakya, a two-year-old girl, has recently been crowned as the new 'Kumari' or 'living goddess' of Nepal, a title she assumes in a traditional ceremony that involves a ceremonial palanquin procession and the belief that she embodies the goddess Taleju until her first menstruation.
