Asem Kanan Singh

Asem Kanan Singh is the chief of Arambai Tenggol, an armed Meitei radical group in Manipur, India. He was recently arrested at Imphal airport by India's top investigation agency for his alleged involvement in various criminal activities related to ongoing ethnic violence in the state. His arrest, along with four other leaders, has sparked significant protests and unrest, leading to a curfew and internet shutdown in parts of Manipur. The violence in the region has resulted in over 250 deaths and thousands displaced since 2023, primarily stemming from tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
