Asqad Muxtor

Asqad Muxtor was a prominent Uzbek writer and poet, born on December 23, 1920. He studied at the philology faculty of the Central Asian State University (now known as the National University of Uzbekistan) after completing his schooling. Before moving to Tashkent, he served as the head of a department at the Andijan Pedagogical Institute. Muxtor worked in various capacities for newspapers such as 'Yosh leninchi' and 'Qizil O‘zbekiston,' and held editorial positions at 'Guliston' and 'Sharq yulduzi.' He authored several poetry collections, including '99 miniatyura,' 'She’rlar,' and 'Sirli nido,' as well as notable prose works like 'Ildizlar,' 'Chinor,' and 'Amu.' Besides his original works, he translated notable literary pieces from figures like Sophocles and Pushkin into Uzbek. Asqad Muxtor passed away on April 17, 1997, and his literary contributions continue to be celebrated in Uzbekistan.
