Assaad Al-Chaibani is the newly appointed Syrian Foreign Minister, known for his commitment to dismantling the remaining chemical weapons stockpile inherited from the regime of Bashar Al-Assad. In March 2023, he received applause from diplomats at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) after he pledged to eliminate these weapons in a bid to align Syria with the international community and honor the victims of chemical attacks during the Syrian civil war.
