Ayal Karim

Ayal Karim is the Chief Military Rabbi of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), holding the rank of Brigadier General. He is responsible for overseeing religious affairs within the military, including the observance of kosher laws and the spiritual welfare of soldiers. Recently, he has been in the news for clarifying the IDF's policies regarding the presence of chametz (leavened bread) in military bases during Passover, following directives from the Israeli Supreme Court to ensure compliance with both religious practices and soldiers' rights.
