Belmiro Gomes

Belmiro Gomes, CEO of Assaí Atacadista, has risen from humble beginnings to lead one of Brazil's largest wholesale retailers. Born in Santo André, he began working at the age of nine to support his family after his father's illness, taking on various jobs including street vendor and farm laborer. With no formal higher education, Belmiro's career spanned over 40 years, during which he developed a unique leadership style focused on open communication, humility, and a proactive approach to addressing challenges. Under his leadership since 2011, Assaí has grown from 39 stores and R$ 3 billion in revenue to over 300 stores and R$ 80 billion in revenue, transforming the company into a major player in the 'atacarejo' market.
