Benedetto Nitto Santapaola
Benedetto 'Nitto' Santapaola, known as 'Il Cacciatore' (The Hunter), was a notorious Italian Mafia boss who played a significant role in the Sicilian Cosa Nostra. Born in 1936, he became a prominent figure during the bloody power struggles of the 1980s and was a close ally of the infamous Salvatore 'Totò' Riina. Santapaola was implicated in the murders of anti-Mafia prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino in 1992. After 11 years on the run, he was arrested in 1993 and spent more than 30 years in a high-security prison in Milan, where he died at the age of 87.
