Salvatore Toto Riina was a notorious Italian mafia boss who led the Sicilian Mafia, known as Cosa Nostra, during its most violent and powerful period in the 1980s and 1990s. Infamous for orchestrating numerous murders, including those of prominent anti-mafia judges, Riina was arrested in 1993 and subsequently sentenced to life in prison. He was known for his ruthless tactics and was considered the 'boss of bosses' until his death in prison in 2017.
