Charles Cornell

Charles Cornell, the father of Sidney Cornell, was an Afro-American acrobat who arrived in the UK as a performer with the Barnum and Bailey circus in 1889. He raised his family in Portsmouth, where they faced challenges as mixed-race immigrants, instilling in them resilience and strength, particularly through teaching his sons boxing.
