Charles II was the King of England, Scotland, and Ireland who ruled from 1660 to 1685 following the English Civil War and the Interregnum. His reign, known as the Restoration, marked the return of monarchy to Britain and was characterized by cultural revival, religious tolerance, and political challenges, including conflicts with Parliament and issues of succession.
